Love Always - Coach J
Sometimes a lack of skill can be made up for with hustle and grit. Hardwork in the right direction is most effective but with all things equal hardwork and hustle put you in a clear lead. If you have a defict using pure hustle and will power you can pull out even the most slim victory. In the end the record reflects wins, not margin of victory. Keep scrappin' to your goals are achieved and victory is yours.

When everything around you is spinning out of control it is easy to get lost in the fray. What do you choose to focus on? The debris or your focal point? Sometimes unexpected distractions and emergencies test our will. If we know the end result we seek we will make regardless of the storms we have to weather. In times of disruption, hunker down remember why you started the jouney and when you look back you will know how amazing you really are. Love Always - Coach J It is interesting that when we hold a belief that we support we feel the need to defend it when it is challenged. Sometimes in listening in place of defending we may gain understanding that helps us grow and doesn't require us to change our belief. Lessons are within lessons. You may not come to the common ground the presenter is offering but if you can learn something new why not step back and observe. Only you can change your mind. Love Always - Coach J A party is a party right? Is it really possible to be late to the party? What is the tipping point where a wonderful party becomes the room with a few people staring at each other wondering what happened? Be in the moment, live in the moment and be aware of the signs of change around you. This lesson applies to business, career, relationships. Know what stage of the party you are in before investing too much. Love Always - Coach J Is it better to live a short life doing what you love, or live a long life of angony? How do you measure your days? Is it based on enjoyment and fulfillment? Everything is fleeting, what is improtant to you? And more importantly - do the things and people you love know how much you love them? How do you measure success? Love Always - Coach J An interesting Norwegian saying was shared with me the other day "There is no such thing as bad weather, only bad clothes." We have been in the negative tempuratures for a few days - hence the sentiment. Today is -18 and feels like -45 or at least that's what the people on TV say. I don't know what -45 feels like compared to -35 but it is COLD outside. I have this amazing jacket that I got years ago and never let go of and I'll tell you I have been outside today with minimal discomfort because of that coat. I don't advise playing outside for an extended period in weather like this but having the proper attire makes all the difference. Love Always - Coach J In youth basketball we coach to look for the "open man". This means the team must pass the ball frequently to "get open". This requires the fundamental skills of proper spacing on the floor and teamwork. Once we have these basics happening at an instinctive level the team will find success. We don't stress scoring, we stress passing to get open. The open man will have an easier shot and as a result points will come. In your life is there a strength you can be using that you are not taking full advantage of "getting open"? Is there any support you can give a person or cause that will improve your teamwork and build that team? Riding the momentum of a teams success will naturally propel you in all your endeavours. Love Always - Coach J To know something is good you must know that something else is bad. Did you know how much you enjoyed ice cream before you bit into a lemon peel? I am sure you can have enjoyment for the ice cream but referencing it against the sour taste of a lemon and it's peel give you a spectrum of reference. Sometimes you have to trek through the tough times to know the pendulum swings both ways. You must experience life in all of its offerings to be well rounded. Not something you read in a book or see in a movie - you must breath it, soak in it and realize it. Love Always - Coach J Some things can be uncomfortable. Most things can be delt with to a certain degree with the proper preparation. Learning a new subject can be taxing but reading study material, watching videos on the subject and talking to others interested in the field of study can help increase your learning curve as well as take away some of the discomfort. Freezing tempuratures are not fun for everyone but having long johns, proper jackets, footwear and gloves can make the most uncomfortable situations more tolerable. Adjust accordingly.
