Love Always - Coach J
A nice warm summer rain after a hot day cools the air and makes for a beautiful summer night. The heat of the summer can make you forget the cooler side of yourself. That wonderful rain can bring back the cool in you. No matter what is heating up around you, find the summer rain in the situation.

Taking time off from physical and mental exertion is needed to return to an optimal state. You stretch yourself to build a new limit, then you rest and let that become your new normal. You stretch again to expand your new limit, then rest so that becomes your new normal. If you do not stretch yourself and are set at one point you bring on weight that can start to slow you down. Stay lean, stay agile by pushing yourself. Stay healthy by allowing time to recover and let your mind and body catch up to the new levels you are striving for. I believe in pushing yourself, but I also know you must take time to recover. Love Always - Coach J Have you ever seen something so bad or ugly it made you realize how good you really have it? I can admit I have had experiences where I wish I had been wiser and not put myself in a situation that made me think "What am I doing here? I don't need to be in this environment!" In those moments I was fortunate enough to have a measurement of good that I could reference as the place I'd rather be. If you are in a dark place and do not have a frame of reference of a better place, I tell you it exists, simply look for small clues first. And for those of you in a good place now, don't wait to be tested or witness something less than beautiful to fully grasp and appreciate the good that is in your life now. The good will only multiply. If you have a little, amplify it, if you have a lot amplify it. Focus on the good, and minimize the bad and the ugly. Love Always - Coach J It's easy to be grateful for the soft and beautiful things like flowers, birds, a sunset or rise, however I'll ask you when was the last time you were grateful for a challenge? Working with some men this week we came across some challenges that had to voiced, raised and cleared. At times during the challenge there was discomfort, confusion or emotions. What made the session successful was that everyone kept asking or speaking until they had an understanding of the others position. The result has been a week of victory by overcoming adversity. And that feels great! Love Always - Coach J The road I traveled to get here was bumpy at some points. Rocky and treacherous at times. Difficult and seemingly impossible. In those times I just kept my head focused on the next step - not the mountain top. Other times my path was more smooth and easy. I learned that for the most part when I knew what direction I was headed the journey was a little easier, even during the tough times. The road here has left some bruises, some visible, some not. The same can be said for scars and muscles that are developed during the journey. These emotional and physical markers may be lingering a little but I wear them with pride and do not let them influence my decisions today - simply knowing that they all brought me to where I am now. Reflect on your journey and look for the lessons, not for regret. Love Always - Coach J I have always had a natural instinct to make my circle or network wide and various. I welcome many different walks of life, thought beliefs and I open myself to learning a little something from each of them. The long term return of this has been I have many resources now when I have a question or thought that I just can't seem to wrap my head around. Even when I reach out to someone and they cannot offer direct advice just hearing their perspective at times can lead me in the right direction by associating their thoughts with the current situation I am facing. Look to others for information, then make the educated decision yourself. Love Always - Coach J You never know.... Why that man walks with a limp, that woman is always smiling, that child ran out into the street without looking both ways first, he chose to retire at this time, why she couldn't be with you anymore. We make assumptions many times in life, and even when we do have some information we will always have the story through our paradigm. You never really know why someone is the way they are and that is okay. Be sound in who you are and accept them for who they present to you. Love Always - Coach J It's always nice to connect with old friends. People you grew up with and now years have passed. What are they doing now? Have they put on a couple pounds? Gotten married, had a new child or two or three, are they strong or are they challenged? Have they grown since you last seen them or are all the conversations about the same thing? Do they bring you a message of hope or despair? When you reconnect with old friends you get a glimpse of where you where as well as where you are at. Nothing better than seeing and old friend doing well. Sometimes nothing more sobering than hearing the news of those that passed or those that are not doing so well. Reconnect, show love, and keep growing in your own direction. Love Always - Coach J Look beneath the surface today. For all the similarities you have daily it is possible you are missing the little miracles that happen right before your eyes. Just as each day has its own challenges it has its own blessings. A day that seems uneventful is a day where you are not fully alert. Events need not be massive to be wonderful. Look for the inside joke, how many times you see your favorite color, what your wife's hair really feels like and how heavy your kids are. Where are all the cracks in the sidewalk and how awesome is it that you can grow hair without even trying. Each day is so much the same and yet so different all at once. Find the beauty in each day and you'll be pleased at what you find hidden inside a "normal" day. Love Always - Coach J is what you get. When you say I am going to fail, This is going to be hard - it always happens that way. Also you go where you focus - not only with your words as just described, but also quite literally. Race car drivers are taught to look away from a crash or wall if they are headed towards it, the act of looking in a different direction naturally takes their body and movements in a different direction. The power of your words, and the power of looking at a vision board of pictures or videos of how you want your life to be will bring you favorable return. Speak and see what you seek, and it is already yours. Love Always - Coach J |
