tying your own tie

I recall my the first time I wore a tie as an adult.  I did not know how to tie a tie so I asked one of my buddies for a one of his.  It was already tied and I used to loosen it enough to get over my head but never took the knot out.  Now I am teaching my boys how to tie their ties and even wearing bow ties.  Fashion is an expression and I enjoy it.  Past the conformity of wearing a tie - it is about adding to your visual representation.  A sign of independence and growth for me as well.  Cheer to the hand tied ties - death to the clip ons!
