power of the crucible

A crucible is a melting pot where metals are forged.  It is also used as a term for an extreme test.  In the test we find our strength that we work for in training.  Without the test we never really know how strong we really are.  In being tested and demonstrating our strength or knowledge the lesson is internalized into a deeper understanding than we had prior to the test.  It becomes part of us and not just a philosophical point of view.  We can study and train all we want, but if we never get out into the world and test our studies we will be weak in the face of adversity.  Take your lumps, test your theory and use the power of the crucible to your advantage.
