loss?

Having a friend injure his leg recently had me reflecting after he shared how his life has been altered. How lucky we are to have something taken from us for a period of time to appreciate it only to have it promised to return to us at a future date? There can be pain and anxiety in the waiting or expecting of that date where someone who lost a limb truly grieves and must move on with no future promise of its return. Whose pain and suffering is greater? Who is righteous enough to say? What I have learned is when we have a moment to learn from each other or an event that we focus and appreciate all that we have right now and not the future promise of anything.
