Break-Through Mindset |
![]() I had the pleasure being driven from my hotel in Dallas to the airport by Mr. Eric Pratt owner of Riccos Limousine. We had an amazing discussion on management, customer service and people management. Eric quit his positions as one of the region's top business "cleaners" for convenience stores - meaning he consistently took underperforming stores and turned them around to profitable locations before being handed off to someone to maintain and he would move to the next problem store. After being constantly overlooked for promotion Eric took matters into his own hands and bought a vehicle and started his own limousine company. I asked him how he turned those stores around and he gave me a talk straight out of Good to Great or any HBR study. He spoke on how he built and empowered his team. How he made it a pleasurable place to work and created processes and clearly defined guidelines. When he spoke of his current venture he spoke on customer service and the customer experience. I asked him who taught him these things and he mentioned he worked for the treasury of Sierra Leone (his native country) and used to listen and take notes from his most successful managers. What a ride... Never put limits on yourself even when others try to. Eric gave no excuses and never let another person's "no" hold him back. When in Dallas give him a call - not only for a ride but also for a lift. 214-282-7419. Love Always - Coach J
