You don't know what you don't know.  Then you become aware of something that you didn't know.  You must keep it front of mind to use it now.  Eventually with enough practice you will aplly this new knowledge without having to think about it.  The moral - continue to learn, practice what you learn and grow as an individual.  Is it better to live it, or be a walking wikipedia that can recite lessons?  I don't know but I can work on it each day....
