go north to go south

Sometimes our path does not always make sense to us.  I recently met a traveler going from Chicago through Minneapolis to get to Florida, they said "How does this make sense?"  But for me it didn't need to as they would arrive at their destination just the same.  We do not know the efficiency and logistics of the airline to take the route they do to offer the options they did.  This was an option and even if it is the only option you are still headed to your destination.  Life is much the same, sometimes we have to detour or appear to go in a different direction that that of our goal where in reality we are following the path best laid for us to gain the most from our experiences before arriving at our destination.
