Love Always - Coach J
John Maxwell says "be a river, not a reservoir." Reflecting on this quote and looking at my day yesterday I am swelling with gratitude for the rivers I am connected to. A friend sent me the most amazing link to a picture of a hand crafted garment. She is entered in a contest and of course I voted for her, yet she has already won by breaking the threshold and stepping on the stage. She has produced - she did the work, the judges do not matter, for a masterpiece answers only to itself. Another river allowed me to sit in on a coaching call with a member so I could gain insight and knowledge on their process. Another stranger from the internet is performing powerful work to guide young men and women and when I reached out asking how I could help advance the cause he responded quickly and honestly. Let the beauty flow in and out of your life. Enjoy the warm waters as well as the cool. Let it flow and do not shut yourself off from the flow.

The ride of life can be choppy at times and pretty smooth at others. When the wave has you at its apex and you are riding high the view is amazing, the rush is addictive and the rush is irreplaceable. When you are crashed by a large wave you are blind to which way is up, you can only think of taking a breath, and you may question why you got on the wave in the first place. Some waves we jump on voluntarily, and some come out of nowhere. I'll ask you to consider that from top to bottom of the wave you are still you. The wave does not define you, the injuries or the adrenaline is not who you are they are passing phases. Do not fear the wave, know they are always out there so do what you can to chose the wave you'll ride. Love Always - Coach J Stop waiting for someone to have a self imposed title or even an appointed title before you treat them with respect. There is royalty all around you that deserves to be acknowledged and revered. Treat each person you encounter as the ruler and leader of the universe. Their universe - not yours. They may seem strange or captivating, regardless if you align with them or not they are running the show in their world. Treat them kindly. This does not make you their servant or subject as you are royalty as well. Simply interact with them on a higher level as royals interacting, not judges casting their opinions of each other upon each interaction. Love Always - Coach J Have you ever worked hard at something over a period of time for it to only be the beginning of something greater? High School can lead to College, College to your profession. An internship to a career is the application of knowledge and principles until you are able to complete the work on your own. Put in the work and enjoy the journey because many commencements come after much labor has been given. Enjoy the start after you believe you are complete. Love Always - Coach J Stick to the basics. Tell the truth even if it hurts, and never hold back a loving thought our of fear of looking or feeling a certain way. Treat others as you would like to be treated. What you eat is what you will become physically. What you think, watch, read, and hear, is what you will repeat and display. Resist the urge to overthink or overcomplicate your life, when things get difficult to understand or a choice is tough to make revert back to the basics and check in with yourself to find the right answer. Love Always - Coach J When you have a chance to get to know people, the real person behind the façade you find 99.99% of the general public are really down to earth. Insecurities, passions, and stories, all the things that make us beautiful are right there in front of us. It is an honor and a privilege to meet the real person, to connect with the Cool Cats. Love Always - Coach J There was a time when man had life at a distance of many feet - maybe even miles in front of him at a time, when he explored and traveled the Earth. Sailing the oceans, crossing continent or simply farming and hunting. Things brought a world view within 20 feet with the introduction of the television. The computer brought the world view within three feet and the cell phone now has the world view within one foot of our face. It is important tot take a close look at things to see the details and inspect them at a higher level - think micro scope, however if we only live this way we will miss many beautiful panoramic horizons. Not only that we face the danger of walking right into a wall or off of a cliff. Check in today and when your lens has been focused within a couple feet of too long. take an intentional step back and look to the horizon, stretch your eyes, breathe in the distance and expand your lungs, mind and vision. Expand to grow, ingest to live fully. Love Always - Coach J I often write to the importance of your friend and family circle. I write about the importance of a network. Being not only social animals we need this but also we have blind spots that will go unnoticed our entire life without someone to point them out. Case in point - I have been writing a book proposal and I shared it with a group of friends to review for me. I have looked over this document many times and felt it was ready. One of my friends sent it back with the most common edits I couldn't believe I missed. Simple things like spelling Feelings as Fillings - or Know as Now. The same things that drive me crazy when I see someone else make that mistake - I was making! Our eyes become trained to see what they want to see, so use your network to see your blind spots. Love Always - Coach J Who enjoys their home as much as the person that leaves it? The person that walks away to the unfamiliarity of the world for experiences that may be pleasant or unpleasant. The vagaries of travel at the mercy of the winds. This is the work that solidifies a life, and amplifies the gratitude of a home.... Not a house, a home. Love Always - Coach J |
